What is a Slip, Trip or Fall?
A trip, slip or fall accident occurs when an individual trips or falls as a result of:
- an obstruction on the walking surface,
- something being left on the walking surface (such as a spillage)
- or by the unsafe condition of the paving or floor surface.
Accidents like these can occur on public land, private land or within the work place (see accidents at work).
Local Authorities have a responsibility to ensure that the highways and footpaths are safe for the general
public and likewise individual property owners have a legal duty to ensure that people visiting their premises
are safe.
